5 Essential You Need Items for a Self-Care Day

Being an adult is STRESSFUL… Whether you are in school, on your career path, a stay-at-home mom, etc, at some point or another you feel like you are burnt out and need a break. Life be Life-ing sometimes and it often feels like everything is hitting you all at once. Or maybe I’ve felt like you have worked so hard, that you’ve earned a break. Everyone should carve out a day to relax. You deserve it and you need to recharge to keep killing the game in whatever it is that you are doing. Nothing is wrong with that. But to have a successful “Pamper-Me” day, certain items are very necessary.  Here are my top self-care items for any relaxation day.

Blanket

Weighted Blanket

One of the best things you can have is a really good soft blanket to snuggle up with. And for those heavier anxiety-riddled days, try a Weighted Blanket. Snuggle up with a good blanket (or even a heated blanket during the colder days) and your favorite movie. But make sure you don’t plan on doing anything else for the rest of the night because that blanket will feel so good that you will fall asleep. (And probably have the best nap ever…)

Journal

Journal/Planner

Another good item to have is a journal and/or planner. Both are good tools to gain a little more control of your life. Use the journal to record your thoughts and feelings every day so you can identify the people or places that bring negative energy to your life. A planner is good to help you stay on top of everything you have going on so you don’t overextend yourself, causing you to stress out. By staying on top of upcoming events and due dates, and recording your feelings, you can plan other events accordingly.

Headphones

Noise Canceling Headphones 

Sometimes you just need to zone out. Noise-canceling headphones can help you tune out the rest of the world and bring you a little piece. Whether you listen to Country, R&B, Pop, or Hip-hop, music is a good way to reset your mind and give you a little bit of ease, especially when you are having a bad day.

Call it childish if you want, but a “motivational” coloring book is a great way to de-stress. They have tons of Affirmation coloring books that help you focus your emotions on something else. You have a sense of peace when you are focusing on creating a beautiful picture and nothing else. It’s calming and relaxing and it gives you a warming feeling once you finish your beautiful piece of art. I particularly love this one from Amazon. Just make sure you hide it from your kids…
