Self-Care for Moms in times of Need
Being a mom in not for the weak-hearted. It’s rewarding and it’s joy to see your babies grow and play and take on their own adventures. BUT it’s very, VERY exhausting. Not only moms, but for anyone that has taken on a caregiver role has experienced put every ounce of energy they have into taking care of a loved one. Keeping the kids fed, happy, and clean is a small feat in itself. And that’s only one part of being “Super Mom”. There is still the cleaning, cooking, keeping your spouse happy, etc. So, with handling all that, when do you have time for yourself? Not to be mom, not to be wife, but to just be yourself. Self-Care helps you hold on to who you are and helps you take care of your family because when you are happy it is easier to make everyone else around you happy.
Self-Care for
Moms
Treat Yo’ Self
Take time out to frequently treat yourself to something special. Whether it’s a luxury mani & pedi’s or just getting out the house for the day. Just something to reward yourself for being an awesome mom. You deserve it!
Eat Well
Being a super mom is hard when you don’t have enough energy. As an on the go mom, it’s easy to just grab the most convenient thing that’s not always the healthiest. Sometimes we just forget to eat all together. When eating a lot of unhealthy food, your energy goes down and the food makes you feel like you are weighed down. Eating better will boost your energy levels and help you to be able to keep up with your kids, short-term and long-term.
Enjoy other people
Go out with other friends or family without your kids. You have no idea how refreshing it can be talking to someone without talking about toys and cartoons. Enjoy conversations with other adults without talking about kids and school. Go to brunch with friends and find a group of people with a similar interests to get out of your normal mommy routine.
Workout
As much as we all hate it, working out can be a big part of self-care. Some may see it as a chore, but once you do it and finish your workout you feel energetic and empowered. My favorite workout to do is Zumba. I LOVE ZUMBA!! If you haven’t tried it you should. It’s basically jus high energy dancing. It’s so much fun and definitely a stress-reliever. I always feel 100% better afterward.
Get some rest
As a mom, especially a new mom, sleep can be hard to come by. And if you do get any sleep, a good interrupted is usually unheard of. But it’s very important to get a good night’s sleep. It’s really hard to be an upbeat and happy mom on 2 hours of sleep. Trust me I know.
Do something you love
Engulf yourself in a hobby you love. Gardening, DIY’s, Shopping. Find something that excites you and you look forward to. You’ll be surprised how much this makes the harder times so much easier to deal with. Especially traveling. For me, traveling is the best release. A countdown until a vacation can take the stress and work and the busy days go by much quicker.
As a mom, you are a very important person in your family. So in order to be the best mom you can be, you need to make sure your needs are met too. Getting plenty of rest, eat well for energy, and do something you enjoy. Happy Moms = Happy Family. Whether you are a mom, a student, etc everyone needs time to themselves to de-stress and be the best person they can be
